The core claim is that Washington treats India’s two security concerns very differently. On China, it has offered high-end intelligence and defence cooperation; on Pakistan-linked terrorism, it has been more transactional and willing to compartmentalise Islamabad’s role when that suits wider US interests. That makes the relationship resilient in some areas, but fragile when the crisis is about Pakistan.
