Pakistan’s Test collapse exposes a deeper crisis

Argument

Assessment

The central claim is that Pakistan’s players are not simply short of talent; many are established domestic performers, and some have done well in county cricket too. The deeper fault, Berry suggests, is institutional churn — frequent coaching changes, selector turnover and erratic pitch policy — which has left the team without a stable method or clear long-term plan.

Counterpoints

Berry does not fully prove that board politics alone caused the collapse. He notes that the players themselves are still making basic errors in the field and with the bat.

He also concedes there is no simple fix: even if the system is part of the problem, the immediate failures on the ground remain with the team in the middle.
