Gambhir keeps India focused on Sri Lanka as WTC pressure builds

Summary

Gautam Gambhir says India are focused only on the second Test against Sri Lanka, even though the result will also shape their place in the World Test Championship standings. Selection Impact

Gambhir’s comments also point to how India may balance the side: he favours five proper bowlers because it gives the attack more rotation and more wicket-taking options. That makes Kuldeep Yadav’s role conditional on conditions and on how the captain wants to use the spin group, rather than on a fixed pecking order.

Next Test

India’s second and final Test against Sri Lanka starts on August 22 in Colombo.
